Learning about Nature

We have a wonderful group of moms that put together some fun playgroups for the kids. This past Wednesday we were able to go to the local Nature Center. I was only able to take Gavin and Wade since Chase was in school. My sister also came with her 2 kids. The boys loved it, I'm not sure why I've never taken them before. We started out by making a couple of crafts, a bag that the kids decorated with insect stamps to collect things in on the nature walk we were going to do, and these cute little ceramic animal prints. Ours were opossum prints...

Then we moved into another room with lots of different animals and spiders for the kids to look at. The kids all sat down and learned about different animals from the workers at the Center. They even got to touch and hold a snake. The boys were more brave than me, let's just say snakes are at the top of my 'fears list'...

There was a little discovery center for the kids. Gavin liked checking out the different insects in the microscope...

Along the way we got to stop and hear about different animals that might live in the area...

We got to throw out popcorn by the trees for the birds to eat. I think Wade ate a few handfuls himself...


When we got back, the boys got to sew a leaf necklace with the leaves they had collected on the nature walk...

We love learning about nature!
